Laser Skin Resurfacing
Do you want your face to glow again with the smooth, firm skin of youth?
Our skin suffers as we age. Fine lines and wrinkles, sun damage, age spots, blemishes, acne scaring, and various skin disorders can take their toll and rob us of our youthful appearance.
But what if you could roll back this damage? Laser skin resurfacing may be the answer.
The oculoplastic surgeons at the Dean McGee Eye Institute have the most advanced cosmetic laser therapies available through the Sciton® JOULE™ platform. The JOULE™ is the most customizable system on the market and allows for a full range of laser skin treatments, from superficial laser peels to deep resurfacing and everything in between.
Call 405.271.1096 or 800.787.9018 and schedule your consultation today. We would be happy to evaluate your skin care needs and develop a laser treatment program using one or more of the following treatment options.
Contour TRL™
The Contour TRL™ is the safest and most effective laser available to address subtle to dramatic complexion issues over a wide surface area. Contour’s unique tunable resurfacing laser allows your physician to customize your treatment by adjusting the depth to which the laser penetrates your skin. It addresses a broad range of skin concerns from fine lines and blemishes to sun damage, scars, and hard to treat wrinkles such as those around the eyes and mouth.
The Contour TRL™ removes the top layer of skin to the depth best suited for the condition your doctor is addressing. This activates the body’s natural healing process, which leads to the production of new skin and collagen, the main protein that provides structure to your skin. As the skin heals, it takes on an improved texture, tone, and coloring and a fresher, younger appearance.
Using the Contour TRL™, the oculoplastic surgeons at the Dean McGee Eye Institute can provide the following treatments:
- NanoLaserPeel™ – Removes the topmost layer of your skin and is ideal for fine lines, mild scars and blemishes, surface lesions, uneven pigmentation, and freckles. A quick in-office procedure lasting 10-15 minutes will help you achieve a fresher look in just two to three days.
- MicroLaserPeel® – Removes more layers of the skin than the NanoLaserPeel™ and is perfect for treating more developed wrinkles, scars, and sun damage. Improvement is typically noticed in three to four days.
- Deep Resurfacing – An excellent option for deep wrinkles, stretch marks, pigmented lesions, and other irregularities that are deeper in the skin, and it can produce significant and dramatic results. The deeper reach of the laser necessitates the use of a numbing cream or additional pain management options. Immediately following the procedure, the skin will be red and swollen and feel like a bad sunburn. Downtime is usually eight to 12 days. You will notice improvement in tone and texture as the skin heals. Tighter, more resilient skin will develop as collagen rebuilds over the next four to six months.
The oculoplastic surgeons at the Dean McGee Eye Institute will evaluate your skin and discuss which Contour TRL™ option is best for you. They can also provide you more detail on the procedure, recovery, and expected results.

ProFractional™ Resurfacing
ProFractional™ resurfacing achieves excellent results treating problem areas of the skin such as acne scars, fine lines, and deep wrinkles. Instead of removing layers of skin, ProFractional™ resurfacing works by firing extremely thin laser beams into the treatment area and creating narrow channels in your skin while leaving surrounding tissue intact. This healthy tissue helps accelerate your natural wound healing response and collagen production, improving your skin’s overall tone and texture.
ProFractional™ resurfacing is more comfortable than other resurfacing procedures and has a typical downtime of only two to five days, though more than one treatment might be necessary. The oculoplastic surgeons at the Dean McGee Eye Institute can discuss the procedure with you in more detail along with what to expect in terms of recovery and results.

HALO™ Hybrid Fractional Laser
HALO™ is the world’s first hybrid fractional laser that is able to deliver two wavelengths of energy to enable a more customized treatment for sun-damaged skin, age spots, scars, and wrinkles. HALO™ can renew the upper layer of the skin (the epidermis) while at the same time rejuvenating the deeper layer of the skin (the dermis) to reduce downtime and maximize results. HALO™ is safe for all skin types. It wipes away skin discolorations, creates uniform skin tone, smooths away harsh textures, and makes wrinkles disappear to produce an overall more youthful appearance – a HALO™ glow!
Patients find HALO™ more comfortable than traditional fractional resurfacing techniques. Typical downtime is five to seven days, depending on the parameters of the treatment. Initial results will be noticed two to five days after treatment while maximum improvement will be seen in two to three weeks. Schedule a consultation with one of the oculoplastic surgeons at the Dean McGee Eye Institute to learn more about the HALO™ procedure, recovery, and results.
