Dean McGee Eye Institute Announces Appointment of New Optometrist

OKLAHOMA CITY— The Dean McGee Eye Institute (DMEI) today announced the appointment of optometrist Dr. Jamie Rodriguez, who is now seeing patients at the Institute’s Oklahoma Health Center facility in Oklahoma City. Her clinical focus will be on same-day and short-term appointment needs as well as contact lens services.

Dr. Rodriguez conducted her graduate work at Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, where she graduated magna cum laude with a Doctor of Optometry degree. In addition, she completed training in external and anterior segment disease at the Jack C. Montgomery Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Muskogee. She pursued her undergraduate education at McPherson College in McPherson, Kansas, and earned a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry (summa cum laude).

“Dr. Rodriguez already has established a very special personal and professional relationship with the Dean McGee Eye Institute. She is a second-generation member of the DMEI family as her father, Jaime Rodriguez, has worked with us for 39 of the Institute’s 40 years. Dr. Jamie Rodriguez previously served the Eye Institute in a number of roles as she completed her optometric education,” said Gregory L. Skuta, MD, DMEI President and CEO and Edward L. Gaylord Professor and Chair of the OU Department of Ophthalmology.
