Dean McGee Eye Institute OKLAHOMA CITY, OK

THE RESEARCH ENTERPRISE AT THE DEAN MCGEE EYE INSTITUTE (DMEI) is thriving, thanks to the 10 current scientific researchers in DMEI’s laboratories who are making discoveries that have direct relevance to the patients in nearby clinics.

DMEI’s basic research program is directed by Michelle C. Callegan, PhD, one of the world’s top scientists on the pathogenesis of endophthalmitis and the leading expert on all aspects of Bacillus infections of the eye. In her laboratory, she and her team focus on better ways to treat infections of the cornea and the interior of the eye, which can jeopardize patient’s vision within hours.
