Meet Your DMEI Doctor: Ronald M. Kingsley, MD

Dr. Ronald M. Kingsley, MD, has seen incredible advancements in the world of ophthalmology in his 34 years at the Dean McGee Eye Institute, witnessing retina treatments advancing from mainly lasers to injections and medications that stop the eye's blood vessels from leaking or bleeding.

A clinical professor of ophthalmology at the University of Oklahoma Department of Ophthalmology, Kingsley was recruited to work at DMEI by well-known retinal specialist Dr. Charles P. (Pat) Wilkinson.

“I’m blessed that he recruited me from the East Coast,” Kingsley says. “I had never been left of the Delaware before. All my training was in the Northeast.”

Kingsley specializes in medical retina, seeing patients with diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, and blood clots in the eye and treating them in a clinic setting; whereas someone specializing in surgical retina would perform surgery on the eye within an operating room.

“The eye institute has been a wonderful place to work and to study,” he says. “I’ve been privileged to work with many outstanding faculty and staff at the eye institute, and I hope that I’ll be able to continue to work at the eye institute for several more years. It’s been a blessing to take care of the patients from Oklahoma, and I’m privileged to be a part of the Dean McGee Eye Institute at the University of Oklahoma.”
